Awhi for Darlene, Himi & their tamariki
Nationwide
Annie Haimona, affectionately known as Darlene, is a young māmā to 7 tamariki, Nanny to 1 mokopuna, partner of my brother Himi, aunty, cousin and friend to many.
On Wed 9 Nov Annie was rushed through to Logan Hospital ICU, Brisbane and put on Life Support.
Doctors revealed after tests Annie suffered a stroke in the week prior, although no signs of a stroke were evident it fast-tracked the ongoing pre-existing health issues Annie was dealing with.
For now, Annie has 1 functioning kidney at 20%. Due to a clot on her heart, kidney and blood infections, her doctors have decided to work on improving kidney function and stabilizing her as opposed to going ahead with a kidney transplant. In keeping positive, this option may be revisited when Annie's body has a better chance of coping with that process.
Annie showed us a beautiful tohu on Friday evening following a union with her whanau, 10% kidney improvement!! A sure glimmer of strength and a true depiction of how whanau love positively affects us in such trying times.
Annie & Himi have built a life for themselves raising their tamariki in Australia for the past 6 years so are Unprotected Visa Holders and are therefore ineligible for any government/state supports.
This whanau are humble to the core and up until now have only just reached out for awhi and shared the seriousness of Annie's poor health.
If you find yourself in a position to 'we ask you to please give a little"
I am Himi's eldest sister, Annie's sister in-law x
Koha will give Himi financial relief to ride this journey at his partners side, it will afford him time to emotionally carry their tamariki through this passage of unfairness, manage their home affairs and travel freely without feeling financial burden.
12.12.22 Update 12 December 2022
Firstly a mention of appreciation to all our donors and those who've shared our plight among your spaces and connections, we truly value your support.
Annie remains in the care of Mater Hospital, is in a stable condition and continues treatment to improve her kidney function & health.
With Christmas fast approaching and school term drawing to an end, the immediate concern for Himi & Annie is reliable childcare. Childcare would enable Himi to work through the holiday season, and Annie to remain focused on her health progress.
With scarce availability and high costs of childcare, the family have advised some funds raised would be best suited to secure flights for Himis mother (NZ based) to Brisbane who in turn would help with daily care for the 3 younger children.
This would alleviate the extra stress Himi & Annie are currently facing.
Greatly appreciated, thank you 💐
