Ensuring we have the funds to give everything possible to saving these two kaimanawa geldings.
Nationwide
Kaimanawa Krazy has saved over 100 kaimanawa horses since 2012. We put our heart and soul into every horse that comes to us. And we give everything we have to ensure they have the best life. Right now Tori (saved from being PTS from the 2021 muster due to a lump on his jaw) and Mangu (from this years muster and only a yearling) have both developed infections in their tendon sheaths and are requiring very expensive medical treatment.
Mangu is currently at Massey University Equine Hospital and it is possible Tori will be joining him there tomorrow. Mangu is having a lengthy operation tomorrow to flush the infection out.
This is a life or death situation for both horses.
The cost is already around $10000 for both horses, but with Tori potentially going to need surgery too, it most likely will be more.
Vet bills.
Tori 8 August 2022
Tori is continuing to do well. He is now out in the paddock 24 hours and showing no signs of lameness or swelling. I guess saving one out of two is better than saving none. But I do grieve Mangu. Thank you to everyone that helped me save Tori. He now gets to rest for some time to ensure his tendons can live up to a long life. Tori is only a young horse, so has a lifetime ahead of him. Thank you.
