Roger has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer Immunotherapy treatment will extend his life
Hawke's Bay
Roger is 44 years old and has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer which has metastatic to his shoulder. We are devastated at this diagnosis, Roger has worked all his life as a plasterer/foreman and had no signs of his ill health until late last year when his shoulder started to give him some problems while working. While Roger is using every option available to him and has completed a round of radiation on both his lung and arm, he has tested positive for PD-L1 and has a high chance of responding to Immunotherapy. Unfortunately immunotherapy is not funded in NZ and there is no word from PHARMAC when it will be. Immunotherapy from March will be otherwise funded in 41 other countries around the world and is leading the way in lung cancer treatment . We have raised $9800 in a family and friends group and we need another $52,000 so Roger can not only begin treatment but complete his treatments. We as his family sincerely ask for any assistance from anyone who can dig deep for Roger and help extend his life. All money raised will go directly to the cost of Immunotherapy and specialists appointments through the private care cancer centre in Palmerston North.
I am Roger’s twin sister, we have looked out for each other all our lives. I have created this page in the hope to raise funds for Roger to have Immunotherapy treatment. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
Funds raised will be for Roger to have Immunotherapy treatment through the private cancer care hospital in Palmerston North, the cost of travel for Roger and follow up appointments with his Oncologist. Any money left will go towards Rogers fight for life
Roger has begun his immunotherapy treatment 22 February 2020
Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support my brother and his fight for life. He has received his first treatment through immunotherapy and we are so grateful to you all. There is still a long way to go and we are all positive about and stand with Roger in his journey. Chemotherapy is also due to begin next week and so far Roger says he feels pretty good. Your support in helping Roger and his family financially fund this unfunded treatment leaves us all with no words to describe our gratitude ❤️
