Exploring how to make puppets from wood, using traditional methods for entertainment and therapy.
Yaldhurst, Christchurch
Hi everyone.
Recently I took an online course with Master Puppeteer Bernd Ogrodnik from Iceland.
As you know over the many years I have worked in Theatre, if I could convince a Director to add a puppet into a Childrens production that I was Designing for, I would. I have always loved sparking magic in Productions that I have been involved with.
After spending time with Bernd and his Team, I realised that there is so much more I want to accomplish. There are so many more avenues I would like to explore , including working in schools and hospitals with children, who are facing challenges. This course will help me add to the skills I have, and take them to a more personal level with audiences, wherever they are. I see my new skills being used in situations of anxiety, depression, dementia, and in the Children's Ward, not just Theatre.
If you know me ,you will know that asking for your help is not something I do lightly. The course is 15months long online ,with huge support from Bernd and his Team. It isn't a cheap excercise, which is why I am hoping to raise some funding to help with the cost. With the exchange rate it works out around $6000 . Any help would be appreciated.
I have some old tools that are my father's. He is now in care , with dementia and alzheimer's, so I look forward to honoring him, and everything he has taught me in life.

Thank you in advance for your support.
All money will go towards tuition fees for The World of Puppets. Anything above money needed for tuition will go to education in areas mentioned, that can use the knowledge I gain.
Thanks so much Tim. Adding to the skill set on another level.
Thank you so much Dan. A big learning curve ahead. X
