Raising funds to help the refugees fleeing to Bulgaria from Putins War

Meet Kira, (I call her Mavpa - Ukranian for Monkey)
UPDATE: Watch / listen to our full story in this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yzAiXyeI5s
This is her curled up on our sofa here in Bulgaria after 3 sleepless days on the road from the capital Kyiv. She is the first of many that we hope to help house and support in any way possible.
She and her family of six are now safe and sound in our small village just outside of Sofia. But there are bus loads of people arriving daily in the same situation.
My brother, wife, and I working with other Bulgarians to house as many Ukrainian refugees as we can and also get them quickly up and running. Finding out what their immediate needs are, and their long term plan will be - helping them navigate the paperwork that this requires.
We are under no illusion we can help the truly desperate - this is what the Red Cross is for, but we can make a direct difference in the lives of some.
The live videos her mother is showing me tonight from her friends there are truly horrifying and the wave of people fleeing will not be stopping.
Help us help them.
Jared, Katie and Michael Mitchell
Immediate refugee needs first. Food, clothing, shelter. Then long term help, finding a place to stay, paying utility bills to help these people have a somewhat normal life
Keeping it lighthearted 8 April 2022
This bundle of energy is keeping us on our toes. They have lived with us for the last month. Right now we are helping support approx 15 Ukrainians with simple things like a free room to weekly grocery deliveries, and of course the family at our house.
With all the paperwork over to register in this country ee have started looking to find them their own house so they can keep moving forward and we can help more people
Thanks Ian, Im not sure what is in the news in NZ these days, but our work continues here. The family that was with us has gone back to Ukraine, but we have just helped relocatte a young 23 year old girl and get her a job. We are actively looking for more people to temporarily house and I am off to fill my car fill of humanitarian supplies and meet with NGO's today to see what else my wife and I can do. Every cent counts, and every cent is going to a real person. Regards, Jared
