Any contribution helps this whānau hugely with 13 year old Umu's Chemo therapy.
Nationwide
13 year old Umuariki Davidson-Kaiwai starts his 6 months of chemo on xmas day (25/12/2024). He had surgery for a tumor removal from his pelvis area on the 16th of December which was initially classed as benign. But now it's been discovered from his second biopsy, it is Osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
Let's help relieve this whānau of the added stress of finances. Arapeta & Mon (Umu's Pāpā & Māmā) will need to be based away from their mahi (jobs) in Whakatane to be up in Auckland with Umu for treatment, support & his healing. Your support is greatly appreciated & will make a difference.
Kia ora, I'm Tiff. I think of myself as an Aunty to Umu, as I've known his Māmā since I was 11 years old. Umu is dear to my heart,, like his whole whānau.
Your donations will sustain Umu's mātua (parents) to be with him up in Auckland through his 6 month chemo treatment away from their family home & income. Also lifting strain of any other financing that arises through this time.
Umu's Update 20 February 2025
Kia ora Wonderful Supporters !
Umu had his 4th & 5th round of chemo on the 28th & 29th of January. After that he spiked a fever on the 4th of February, which after an ED visit then resulted in a staph infection around his port line. Talk about challenge on top of challenge !! Gosh his whole whānau are an incredible unit I tell ya !! He was treated accordingly for this infection, this resulted in Umu having to be monitored in hospital for a few days. Due to the sensitivity in the area they delayed his scheduled 6th round of chemo by a day, which he then had on the 18th of February. Round 7 of chemo is scheduled for the 26th of February. Also, Monday the 24th of February Umu goes in for his MRI & CT scan to see what the tumor is looking like. The halfway mark is something to feel great achievement in 🙏🏽❤️
Please keep holding Umu in your thoughts & karakia. Monique (Umu's Māmā) posts regular updates, jump on her FB account to be informed. Sending any sunshine their way DOES help and IS lifting. It doesn't have to be monetary every time - sending a message, or a lifting waiata their way is a beautiful thing too. Even singing along to a waiata in your day & thinking of them & this journey is a positive thing, serving in Umu's healing ❤️🩹 .
The Davidson-Kaiwai Whānau appreciate you all so much for your aroha.
Ngā mihi x
