A Grandmother's Journey to Regain Her Voice and Embrace Life Anew

Nationwide

Join us in supporting an extraordinary woman on her path to recovery after a life-altering stroke. Meet our much loved mum and grandmother, Sara, who, with unwavering determination, has been accepted into the groundbreaking UPLIFT (UPper limb and Language Impairment and Functional Training) trial program at the University of Melbourne. This innovative research aims to restore arm movement and reawaken communication abilities for stroke survivors this visionary initiative has been established across multiple sites in Australia, striving to transform the lives of stroke survivors like her.

Imagine the joy in Sara's heart when she envisions holding her beloved grandchildren again and engaging in heartfelt conversations. The UPLIFT trial offers a glimmer of hope that she can reclaim these memories. We need your help to ensure Sara can participate fully in this program. The costs associated with the four-week rehabilitation period at the clinic in Townsville, is a significant hurdle due to being 5 hours from home and our dad, Klem, having stopped work to become her fulltime caregiver.

Your support will not only provide her with the opportunity to access this transformative trial but also contribute to advancing stroke rehabilitation for others. Every dollar brings us closer to our goal of giving her the strength to rise above adversity, and enabling her to embrace life's precious moments once more. Join us in this empowering journey and help us unlock hope for a brighter future!

Final Update: A Remarkable Journey Continues  28 August 2023

With hearts full of gratitude, we bring you the final update on Sara's journey through the UPLIFT trial program. This chapter may be closing, but the impact of your support and the determination Sara has shown will continue to shape her path to recovery in the weeks and years to come.

The progress has been nothing short of incredible, with her unwavering dedication to each session and her persistence through challenging moments. The results are visible in the newfound strength of her arm and the remarkable strides in her speech. Sara will be continuing similar treatments at home with Klem, fortified by the progress she has made and the lessons she has learned.

We extend our deepest gratitude to each of you who contributed financially, sent uplifting messages, and kept Sara in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness has been the driving force behind her, and your belief in her potential has lifted her spirits in moments of doubt. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
