Save Wallys leg !
Auckland
Wally became unwell suddenly Thursday evening. His back leg swelled and his foot became one giant blood blister. After an overnight stay at the emergency vets as he was sceptic and toxic and lots of visits for dressing changes and fluid therapy over the past few days we are now at the stage of further antibiotics and an op to debride the dead tissue with a possibility of him having to have his leg amputated ! Being a Greyhound this will be a difficult task but he is a strong boy and deserves every chance to come out the other side of this nightmare !
We are at the stage of having used our savings - and NO he wasn't insured (and YES I could kick myself but that wont help our situation now) The vet bill is already at $4000 and rising. I hate to ask for give a little but needs must and as you will know Wally is a VERY big part of our lives and the Greyhound community.
Funds raised will go directly to Wall'ys care through this ordeal. If we are fortunate to raise any funds and it exceeds the final amount then extra will be paid to GAP (Greyhounds As Pets) as a donation.
YAY its healing beautifully and fast ! 21 April 2018
So my heart dog kept the leg all be it skinless from ankle down. 2 toes look like they will fuse together with scar tissue but it wont affect his balance etc.
The front of the leg is still open and between 2 of his toes is discharging but all in all we couldn't be more pleased and its been such a relief to know of all the support and again we cant THANK YOU enough for the financial support as its meant the hat has been off re decision making in Wallys care. Fingers paws and eyes crossed that he continues to improve at the pace he is. YAY !!!!
