We dream of a world where no one walks for hours just to find water, every child can go to school, and every community can flourish.
Manawatu / Whanganui
We work with the Samburu Maasai people in the semi-arid region of Northern Kenya, in the township of Maralal. Led by local people, we take a holistic approach focusing on four key areas, to tackle poverty and the effects of a serious water shortage crisis. By creating projects that enable harvesting the rain, resourcing underground water stores, improving the quality of live, enhancing opportunities for income generation, and restoring and protecting land for now and into the future.
Our project makes sure fresh clean water is abundantly and easily available to the most marginalized and disadvantaged so they can enjoy a quality life, generate incomes through growing crops and livestock – in 2025 while further protecting their environment for tomorrow.
I am Julie Nabaala, the founder of Water is Life Kenya-NZ. I live in both Whanganui, New Zealand and Yare, Maralal, Kenya with my husband Moses Nabaala. We are striving to bring change to our local Samburu community in northern Kenya.
