Waimakariri Dog Training Club. Agility Equipment Shed, Climbing 10 Peaks in 10 Days Fundraiser
Canterbury
After the 2010 Christchurch earthquakes ruined The Waimakariri Dog Training Club grounds the club had no choice but to move grounds and leave their dog agility equipment shed behind.
While utilising shipping containers they have been fundraising ever since to obtain enough funds to build a new shed on their new grounds at Mandeville Sports Grounds.
They are so close to achieving their goal and so to help them get this shed built a group of six of us and our dogs, some members and a couple of friends, are about to take on a punishing challenge.
We are going to climb the following 10 peaks in 10 days..
Mount Thomas 1023M
Foggy Peak 1741M
Saddle Hill 841M
Rabbit Hill 1198M
Mount Oxford 1364M
Helicopter Hill 1256M
Mount Grey 934M
Mount Richardson 1047M
Coopers Knob 573M
Mount Isobel 1319M
The challenge begins 1st April through to the 10th. Any financial support in exchange for our sweat will be hugely appreciated as this will be no easy feat but we are determined to get the shed finally built.
To Build a Shed to house dog agility equipment
Just like that, we are done! 12 April 2021
Well what can we say other than what an amazing 10 days we have had and yesterday just topped it off. It was pouring with rain when we left Chch so back packs were filled with warm clothes and rain coats. By the time we got to Hanmer Springs the rain had stopped and blue sky was poking through. Thermals and jackets were being ditched in the cars left right and centre. Up and down we go for the last time. Gail and Delia came along to support which turned out to be very handy when one of the dogs got a bee sting in her ear. Nothing like having your vet on hand to tell you what to do. Thank you for joining us ladies.
So here we are at the end. What was an idea, turned into reality and now it is finished. We have had a great time, there has been sore legs, crazy weather, tired bodies but also tons of laughs and lots of fun. The local pubs have been well supported after each peak. Seems this hiking business makes you very thirsty and hungry.
There are so many thank you's this will start to sound like an Oscar winning speech. Thank you Paul for coming up with the idea in the 1st instance, thank you all the businesses that supported us and looked after us and our dogs, thank you to the team for accepting the challenge and feeling the burn each peak, but most of all THANK YOU to all the very generous people that have donated to our fundraising cause. We are so very very grateful as is the Waimak Dog Training Club and I am very pleased to say the contract for the shed was signed with Total Span yesterday. The entire club has done so much fundraising over the past 6/7 years to get to this point and now it is actually going to happen. Yaahooooo!!! GO WAIMAK!!!
The givealittle page will stay open for another week so there is still plenty of time to donate if you would like to.
