Hospice West Auckland offers a range of holistic services and support for people and their families at end of life.
Auckland
We need your help! As an essential service, our teams require N95 masks to visit terminally ill patients at home. These masks are not government-funded and with our Hospice shops closed and fundraising events disrupted, we are losing critical income each week. You can keep our most vulnerable safe by making a donation today.
For our teams to be able to carry out their work safely, they need protective clothing (PPE). This includes N95 masks, gloves, gowns and protective eyewear. Protective clothing is essential for our Doctors, Nurses, Social workers, and Therapists to keep them, and those we care for, protected while providing vital care out in the community.
Our team of Doctors, Nurses, Counsellors, and therapists travel over 190,000 km a year to provide end of life care for the community of West of Auckland. With a community of over 250,000 people, we must continue to reach and deliver end of life care to the most vulnerable, isolated and at-risk members of the community in the safest way we can regardless of the circumstance.
To provide end of life care for our community it costs Hospice West Auckland over $8 million a year. We receive 50% of our funding from the government. The other 50% we must raise ourselves through our shops, donors and other fundraising activities. With our second-hand stores now closed, we lose a vital source of funding, as they provide 35% of our income.
With the loss of this income and the increase in other costs such as personal protective equipment for our teams, we now need your help more than ever to ensure that Hospice can continue to deliver this vital care for our community at this critical time.
Please make a donation today to ensure that Hospice can be there, when no one else can.
Hospice West Auckland provides holistic services and support at no cost for people and their whanau in West Auckland with a life-limiting illness. We believe that every person deserves access to palliative care irrespective of their place of death.
Each team member will have a personal protection package which includes gloves, gowns and protective eyewear. Gloves and gowns can only be used once before a new set is needed for the following patient.
