Supporting Whangarei Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes to compete at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Whangarei, Northland
We are a team of dedicated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes from Whangarei, New Zealand, working towards a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at the Jiu Jitsu World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, this September.
Our team trains year-round with discipline, respect, and commitment — balancing work, family, and training while representing our community on the mats. Competing on the world stage is not just about medals; it’s about personal growth, resilience, and showing what a small but determined community can achieve.
The cost of international competition is significant, and this fundraiser will help cover flights, accommodation, competition entry fees, and essential team gear. Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to representing Whangarei and New Zealand at the highest level of our sport.
Any funds raised beyond our minimum travel costs will go directly back into training opportunities and development for our athletes, including future competitions and youth pathways.
Thank you for supporting our journey to Tokyo. Your generosity helps turn years of hard work into an unforgettable experience and allows our athletes to proudly represent our community on the world stage.
Funds will be used for flights, accommodation, competition entry fees, team uniforms, and training costs for the World Championships in Tokyo.
We took one of the biggest teams in Northlands History to the first tournament of the year. 23 February 2026
We smashed it.
We had some serious hiccups for our first tournament.
Half of the team was competing while sick.
Most of us had to go up weight classes, belt ranks, or down age groups to find the matches we wanted for experience.
BUT everyone medalled and we got some great datat to work on for the next competition.
Thank you Michele
Let's go Gabe! 💪🏻
