Raglan, Waikato

Every parent's worst nightmare happened on Saturday 22/11/25. Imagine you turn your back for just one moment while your daughter, unbeknownst to you, decides to climb a pile of logs. You hear a clunk and crash and your world is turned upside down...

Fortunately, Finn and his son were able to free Saiorse but the damage of a log connecting with a child was done. Pelvis fracture in two places, back broken in four, organ damage, a helicopter flight to Waikato hospital...

Suffice to say her recovery will be a prolonged one, after this quite life altering event.

I'm sure you'll be wishing Saiorse as good a recovery as is possible, and likewise for the very traumatised family around her. They will have considerable challenges coming up as they adapt to assisting Saoirse get her life back.

We all think and say those words - "If there is anything I can do to assist...".

Well this is one way that will surely be appreciated. Will you help?

At home recovering well  13 December 2025

Those signs of of frustration -being a bit over being in a wheelchair - but we know these to be good signs indeed. Bones and internal organs seem to be healing well but we won't know for sure until further tests are done.

Saoirse has done some school visits but is not yet ready to go back to school.

She celebrated her 7th birthday in style at home with friends and family recently.

Her spark is back and she is definitely on the road to recovery.

We express our deep gratitude to all the folk supporting the whanau, through givealittle, meal trains, and all the other ways that has enabled her family to focus on healing without having to worry about all the day to day stuff so much.
