WORD needs Wheels!
WORD needs Wheels! We want to explore the world on bikes, but need a van to take us there. We are looking for the final $8000, wahoo!
In a world where competition is synonymous with kid's sport, WORD is taking an innovative approach to getting young ones active...fun first, sport second. Over the past 3 years, the youth of Wellington have been venturing outdoors, building self confidence, and having the best time of their lives all thanks to the mighty mountain bike.
We have been on a journey from an idea on the trail to a buzzing non-profit organisation with over 500 kids, 8 after school programmes, and 20 instructors. WORD is changing the way people look at mountain biking and youth sport. Through partnerships with local clubs, kids are entering events, building trails, fixing bikes, and making life long friendships.
As many of you will know, WORD is in urgent need of a van. If we are to continue to offer school holiday programmes, run events and get our instructors to where the WORD kids are, we need a 12 seater, low top van (Toyota or similar) - and we need it fast!
The quiz night was a huge success with $5000 raised, and all funds from the Bike and Bike Bits sale will also go towards the van fund, but we need more help.
So we've set up this page for the last wee bit of van fundraising and if each WORD family was able to give just a little ...we reckon we’d get a long way towards reaching our target of $8,000.
So let's get these kids moving and taking over the world...one ride at a time!
WORD is a non profit organisation all about encouraging kids to enjoy mountain biking! We provide after school programmes, holiday camps and events. In 2013 WORD was founded with the mission to build confidence, encourage new friendships, and foster a lifelong love of mountain biking.
