I am walking 1 million steps in 100 days to raise $1 million for cancer support in memory of my grandfather and aunty.
Auckland
On the 17th of January, I will stand at our urupā to begin a 100-day journey.
A year ago on that date, we buried our grandfather Kāmaki Howe. He lived a long, colourful life before he was taken by prostate cancer. Only three weeks before his passing, we lost our beloved aunty to breast cancer. They now rest side-by-side, and it is from their side that I will take my first steps.
The Mission: 100 Days. 1 Million Steps. $1 Million Dollars.
This kaupapa, 100 Hāti Days, is about more than just walking. It is about the "Hāti" (Heart). It is a commitment to honor their memory by raising vital funds and awareness for cancer support, ensuring other whānau have the resources and care they need during their hardest moments.
Over the next 100 days, I will be documenting every step and every story. Whether it’s 10,000 steps in the rain or a sunrise walk in silence, every movement is a dollar closer to our goal.
I am asking you to join me on this journey. Whether you donate a dollar a step, share our story, or walk a mile with me in spirit, your support means the world.
For my Papa, for my Aunty, and for every whānau fighting this battle—let’s make every step count.
