One foot in front of the other
Waitakere, Auckland
Hi, my name is Henry and I am fundraising for suicide prevention services in NZ.
On 6th March 2026, I lost one of my best mates to suicide, he was 19 years old. This July, on my 20th birthday I am aiming to complete a 105km ultra marathon in his honour.
My goal is to raise $2000 for the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust and Mates in Construction.
NZ has one of the highest rates of teen suicides in the OECD, 3 times that of comparable countries, and young men are disproportionately affected. Construction workers are 9 times more likely to die from suicide than from an accident at work, the industry loses almost one person every single day.
I am not a runner and I have never run a marathon or even a half marathon, but I am fit and healthy I have given myself 2 months to train for the Northland Ultra. I am half way through my training programme and am on track to complete the course, even if it means crawling over the finish line! So now it is time to fundraise so I can support that organisations that can prevent someone else from going through his pain and the pain of all of those affected by his loss.
Please support me in my goal to honour my friend, I am grateful for every donation.
