I'm running 200km in 12 days to fundraise for Running on the Spectrum - helping Kiwi kids on the autistic spectrum with running and shoes.
Canterbury
From December 1st to 12th I'm going to be running a total of 200km to fund raise for a charity called Running on the Spectrum. Running provides an amazing outlet for those on the Spectrum. It provides focus, achievement and self-worth, and helps reduce anxiety, ADHD, and other co-morbid conditions. Through this program, young New Zealanders with Autism Spectrum disorders get the opportunity to join a safe, supportive and understanding running program, whereby they receive a tailored fitness program, access to online support and a new pair of running shoes.
I'll be posting updates of my mileage both here and via Strava and Facebook so you can follow my progress towards 200km!
Running on the Spectrum promotes the positives of living with Autism and breaking down the myths and stereotypes that exist.
Just $60 will help support an Autistic child into the walking and running program for a whole year and includes a pair of running shoes! This also includes ongoing support online with training and a dedicated page where parents can receive advice, support, and join in discussions about Autism. There will also be a chance to run in special running events throughout New Zealand.
