The charities’ missions inspired me to undertake this event, the money raised directly helping those in need motivated me to complete it.
Wellington
On 30th March, I completed 3 marathons- a 42.75km run, row and bike ride. It took just over 12 hours and I finished at 10.45pm. The money raised will be split equally between 3 local charities;
Wairarapa Youth Charitable Trust runs Wairarapa Boxing Academy, Masterton Foodbank and Autism Wairarapa Charitable Trust. I had plenty of time to think about things over the day, during the highs and lows, and a famous speech by American basketball coach, Jimmy Valvano, came to mind. He said that “there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. No. 1 is laugh. You should laugh every day. No. 2 is think. You should spend some time in thought. No. 3 is you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that's a full day.” I did all these 3 things on the day.
My work with Wairarapa Youth Charitable Trust, Masterton FoodBank and Autism Wairarapa inspired me to raise funds to help those in our community in need.
Thank you so much for your support. Am already planning my next crazy event.
Thanks so much, Jill.
