48 Miles for Mental Health
Wellington
PARTICIPANTS
Calvin Ellis - Running in Wellington
Steve Mullally - Running in Auckland
We're taking part in this challenge to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
This is something we stumbled across via the lunatic formally known as David Goggins, and we decided to turn it into a charity fundraiser to help raise funds for the great work they do in a range of areas from suicide prevention, to mental health and wellbeing, which now more than ever are topics close to both our hearts.
The 4x4x48 is a tool that David Goggins has been using for however many years, and is designed to be both a mental and physical challenge to push you outside of your comfort zone through testing physical & mental endurance, and has the added element of sleep deprivation due to the short gaps between each round.
Its a simple format:
- 12 rounds of 4 miles
- Run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
FRIDAY - 8pm, MIDNIGHT
SATURDAY - 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, MIDNIGHT
SUNDAY - 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm
We're aiming for 45-50mins runtime per round, and can take as long as we want, but any time wasted means we'll lose time on the recovery/sleep before the next round begins.
We'll be starting on Friday 11th March at 8pm and Finishing the 12th round roughly 5pm Sunday 13th March.
We welcome any support to help fuel us to get through the challenge, and we'll both be updating you as we go through Social media and on this page.
