To assist with fundraising for an awareness campaign amongst medical professionals
Marlborough
My personal challenge to raise funds in support of New Zealand Acromegaly Society, in its efforts to create a greater awareness of Acromegaly within the medical professionals in New Zealand.
I am involved because I am a sufferer of Acromegaly - (a Growth Hormone issue created by a tumour on the Pituitary Gland in one's head, it is rare, and generally fatal long term if left untreated). I am using a personal physical challenge to raise these funds.
Hills.... 7 November 2016
Hi. Rode hills on Saturday - not many km in total, just 70 but around 1300m vertical gain. The Wedge at Picton, followed up with Whatomongo & down to Hakahaka Bay, then the 30 minute climb back out, back down into Picton, back up The Wedge & back to the vehicle. Suitably tired, but at least knowing the legs can do this. One more big ride next weekend of perhaps 140km, then 100km the weekend after with rats & mice during the weeks, then tapering down. Looking forward to the day of the ride, and the following day which starts my cycling retirement - yet again... What will be next? Cheers all, thanks for all your support. Wayne.
