So They Can work together with communities in Africa to educate and empower, so they can break the poverty cycle, realise their own potential and meet their own needs.
I volunteer for So They Can one day a week. I help out with project work, or any other jobs that are required. This organisation is close to my heart as I have seen the impact and difference we can make in peoples lives who do not have the same opportunities we have.
I love So They Can's philosophy and the difference they are making.
I have recently returned from Tanzania, Africa, where I was privileged to volunteer with primary school children (aged 5-13 years old). I learnt a lot during this time, but the biggest lesson that I took away was; despite the children having almost nothing, they wanted to share everything they did have, and were truly happy.
This is such a contrast to the Western societies where we so often have everything we want (and need) and yet continue to want more, and many of us are so unhappy.
These children in Africa have not had the same opportunities that we have been fortunate enough to have.
By helping provide and education to these beautiful children and their communities we can help them to discover their potential and break the poverty cycle.
Nelson Mandela said "Education was the most powerful weapon you can give the world".
Lets be part of this and give everyone an opportunity to education

Just before Christmas I completed my first standard tri at Mission Bay in Auckland. 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run.
Despite the nerves, I managed to beat my expected time, and have lots of fun whilst doing it!
Now I just have to double that for my Half Iron Man in March.
2 Months today! Thats 6 weeks unitl I need to taper off...... eeekkkk.....
