Helping to raise funds for Brave to continue their amazing work in NZ raising awareness about sexual violence among youth.
Auckland
A huge part of the Miss World NZ competition is beauty with a purpose. This year we are working with an amazing charity - Brave. Brave was founded by our current Miss World NZ and Miss Oceania, Jessica Tyson.
Jess works incredibly hard to help support young people in New Zealand who have experienced sexual abuse, as well as bringing awareness to the topic, especially among youth.
This is an issue which is very close to my heart and I couldn't be more proud to work with Brave through Beauty with a Purpose.
Brave's Vision - We want to see all young New Zealanders feel empowered and brave enough to ask for help if they have been affected by sexual harm in any way. We would also like to see the stigma around sexual violence disappear so that the topic can be talked about more freely within our communities.
Where the funds go -
Digital resources - Such as filming and video production to hep promote our messages during school visits and online via our website and social media pages.
Computer equipment - To help display slideshow presentations to students during school visits.
Educational resources - For students such as reading material and other information to be given out during school visits.
Travel expenses - When our team travels out of town for school visits.
Website - Costs associated with running the Brave website
This year as part of my Miss World New Zealand journey I am raising funds for a wonderful charity - Brave. Brave's purpose is to raise awareness about sexual violence among youth in Aotearoa and provide the appropriate tools and support to young people affected by sexual harm.
