shaving my head to support local cancer charities in aotearoa new zealand in support of loved ones battling cancer
Nationwide
71 people living in aotearoa new zealand are diagnosed with cancer every day. in 2025, there were around 30,000 reported cancer diagnoses, and the cancer society are predicting this number to increase by more than 50% in the next two decades.
if you know me, you’ll know that cancer has affected many of my loved ones, and over the past six months, cancer has reared its ugly head again for a few individuals near and dear to me and my wider whaanau.
unfortunately, i was not gifted with a scientific mind that could contribute to cancer research and finding a cure. what i do have is a lot of hair that i would like to give the chop in support of three deserving cancer charities.
the three charities who will receive your generous donations were nominated by some very special people. the charities are the blood cancer foundation, the waikato/bay of plenty division of the cancer society, and the auckland/northland division of the cancer society.
i know times are tough right now, so please don’t feel like you need to support financially if it is not within your means - sharing the page helps as well and is deeply appreciated!
p.s. the fundraiser name came from my manager at work as he loves a pun, so, full credit to him. as he said, this head shave will be “shear perfection”.
