Cape Maclear Triathlon Malawi!
A sprint triathlon alongside Lake Malawi!

On 31st August I'll be taking part in the sprint triathlon in Malawi's beautiful lake side village of Cape Maclear!
I first heard about this event almost 10 years ago and had it on my radar as an event for my bucket list. This year I'm in Malawi at the right time and so it seems it's meant to be!
I probably haven't given myself long enough to prepare for the training and I am a little nervous....I know I can do all the component parts, but have never tried them one after the other on the same day. I've stepped up my training in the last couple of weeks and not afraid to admit I am sore all over!
The sprint triathlon consists of:
- 750m swim
- 20km bike
- 5km run
I'm fundraising for Medic to Medic (no surprises!) and any support you could give me would be very motivating to keep me going through this event for which I'm sure there will be tears and maybe a few injuries.
All monies will support students training in the health professions where there is great need for more health professionals in Malawi. I look forward to sharing photos from the event where I will be a little worse for wear!

I was the only girl taking part in the whole event and I hope next year I may be able to be a bit more prepared. Perhaps with some Medic to Medic teams and some physio stalls for fundraising! And maybe I will be able to do the bike myself next year if I’m organized enough! Though will need to step up training somewhat! Turns out lake swimming is not the same as swimming in the pool and maybe I need to sort out my breathing and front crawl again!
