Chasing 3 for OB. An attempt to run sub 3 in the Hawkes Bay Marathon in memory of OB.

Hawke's Bay

In a months time, I'll be lining up at the Hawke's Bay Mazza with the aim of breaking the 3hr mark. But it's not just about a time. It's about honouring a mate & continuing his legacy of generosity.

My mate, Ollie Bradshaw, passed away in March 2025 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. OB was a fu*ken good man. He was bloody funny but also hugely generous and someone who always put others first, quietly dedicating much of his time and energy to supporting those in need. Over the years OB helped to raise $100,000's for various charities. The Catwalk Trust, Hope Without Fear, The Cancer Society and Movember through the Great NZ Tee Off - to name a few!

So to honour OB's memory i'm gonna have a crack at breaking 3 hrs in the Hawkes Bay marathon and ideally raise a few $'s for Bowel Cancer NZ.

This cause is also particularly personal for me. In 2010, I was diagnosed with Colitis, which puts me at higher risk for bowel cancer. OB's journey and my own health challenges have given me an appreciation of the importance of early detection, research and a wish to support those battling bowel cancer.

The statistics are sobering: bowel cancer is the second highest cause of cancer death in New Zealand, with approximately 1,200 New Zealanders dying from this disease each year. So I hope that together we can raise some $ that will support Bowel Cancer NZ's work in awareness, early detection programs and research.

So please, if you can spare a couply bucks, i'd be hugely grateful.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
