Chemo to Kms

Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ and Canteen NZ walked alongside me while I kicked cancers arse in 2018. They gave me support, talked me through what to expect, gave me an ear to listen, a social network, a place to express myself where others just “got it”, love and opportunities to laugh, support navigating the realms of financial assistance, petrol and supermarket vouchers when money got tight, visited me at chemo and provided a sense of security that I had people to ask for help in my (new) city.

So to pay it forwards, this year I will be attempting to raise $10,000 to split between @lbcnz and @canteen_newzealand💫

Thankful for the body that I have I’ll be undertaking all kinds of events such as ocean swims, half marathons, movie nights, a Half Ironman and another annual Bonney Family Fuck Cancer Triathlon (which you can all take part in!) in 2019 to raise it. Go big or go home right?

I’ve learnt so much in 2018 and one of the most important things is that life is about so much more than just yourself. A good life has community, it has love and spirit, selflessness and goals beyond yourself. I want other people going through what I have to feel nurtured too - this money will help to do this.

During the year I will be looking for donations, sponsorship and pledges towards the different events which I will be updating via Social Media. I’ll be keeping a tally of the Kms travelled for the cause- if you want to do some kilometers for the cause too feel free to join me in the mission and raise some $$ along the way!
