Stage one of the Kiwi North project will see the new kiwi house fitted out. This has been a long held dream for many of the supporters of the Heritage Park and any funds raised will help make this a reality.
Museum Director Claire has literally 'got on her bike' to raise funds for the Whangarei Museum & Kiwi House's 'Kiwi North' project. This exciting project will provide a new noctural house for the resident kiwi and also display other native species. Visitors will be able to learn more about conservation taking place in Northland.
Update for 18/12/2009 18 December 2009
So I eventually got back on my bike this week after a couple of weeks off and it's amazing just how unfit I'm feeling!!? But have lent my car to my parents so have no excuse not to ride to work...? A huge huge thank you to all of you who have donated to the site and i'm pleased to say that with money collected at the museum as well and a few promised donations that I will be bagering people for, I will have made the $1000 target I had set for myself.? So thanks again as I really in all honesty wouldn't have got out of bed on the race morning if I hadn't had all the support from everyone and not wanting to let you all down.? Every single dollar is much appreciated, but for those who were able to give over $50 I will be in touch soon as you will be entitled to have your name (or someone else's name as nominated by yourself) placed on a plaque on a rock outside the new entrance to Kiwi North in recognition of your support. Thanks again Claire
