I will be completing the Coast to Coast Longest Day in Support of KidsCan Charitable Trust raising funds for NZ children in poverty.
Nationwide
Despite being one of the most developed countries in the World, New Zealand is still plagued by child poverty. One in five of our children live with food insecurity and approximately 254,000 live in poverty according to the 2018 and 2019 Child Poverty Monitor technical reports.
Education provides people with the opportunity to grow and contribute to the world around them. For many children it is their ticket out of poverty. However hungry, cold children cannot concentrate in class and those with no shoes cannot participate in many school activities. KidsCan aims to level the playing field for children in New Zealand by offering food and clothing to children in need so they have the best opportunity to learn their way into a better future.
On the 8th of February 2020 I will be competing in the Coast to Coast Longest Day, running, biking and kayaking 243km from Kumara beach on the west coast to New Brighton on the east coast. This is a huge challenge for me and something I have been training hard for since I signed up in February last year. I would appreciate your support in the form of a donation to KidsCan Charitable Trust so that all kiwi kids can have the same opportunities I had as a kid and maybe grow up to be Coast to Coast Athletes themselves.
I was lucky to receive a good education during my childhood and was sent to school with shoes and suitable clothes having had a filling breakfast. Unfortunately not all kids are so lucky. KidsCan aims to provide these opportunities for all children in NZ.
