My name is Codi Merito and thanks to the University of Waikato and Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme, I am extremely fortunate to be travelling to a place that has been my dream since childhood - Mt Everest!

Next month, myself and 4 other University of Waikato members are travelling to Nepal, to visit local schools and do as much good as we can before we trek up to Base Camp.

Before we leave, I am aiming to raise as much funds as possible. All funds raised will go directly towards the Himalayan Trust - more specifically, the Musey Water Appeal.

Mt Everest is 8,848m tall, so for every $88.48 raised, my goal is to get my BIKE and MYSELF to the top of another local New Zealand mountain. I've ticked Mt Ngauruhoe off the list, and I'll keep going until my total climb height adds to 8,848m.

I am very fortunate to be a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar at the University of Waikato. As part of the programme, we strongly believe in the ideals that Sir Ed set, and hence why supporting his beliefs is something that becomes second nature to all of us as Hillary Scholars. I am hoping to get your support, to help transform the underprivileged citizens in the remote villages of Nepal.
