After 2 years of growing my hair, I'm donating it to help someone in need.

Recently, my parents embarked on a mission to defeat a disease that has been slowly stealing the quality of life from my Mum for nearly 3 decades. In the second half of last year, Mum committed to receiving a treatment for the autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis, also known as MS, that is not currently offered in New Zealand. This required her to travel to Mexico, where chemotherapy was used to destroy her immune system, and stem cells were used to replace it. As with most chemo treatments, this caused her hair to fall out. The chemo process is hard enough without the additional stress of being in a foreign country, away from family and friends. Luckily for her, my incredibly supportive Dad was able to accompany her, and help her through this trying period of her life. I have never met someone stronger than my Mum, and I am so incredibly proud of her. I haven’t been able to do much to help her through this process, but I might be able to do something to help those who are yet to go through it.
At the end of this month (February 2020), after 2 years of growing my hair, I am going to join my Mum as a newfound baldy by donating my hair to charity. Hopefully, by bringing this chapter of my life to a close, I will be able to help those who are but opening a new chapter in their own life.
My Mum has just received a potentially life changing MS treatment. I want to help someone else in need of the same treatment.
