PAK'n'SAVE would not be impressed. For Help the Homeless, we go two weeks without meat.
Canterbury
The good folks over at the University of Canterbury got a bunch of us student leaders together a few weeks back for a weekend retreat. Born out of that was a charity fundraiser for Help the Homeless. A challenge, issued to Team Lime Green (and the other, less badass teams), to go Two Weeks Without.
Two Weeks Without is a fun new initiative designed to promote the integration of charity and awareness into our lives by forfeiting something from our lives, and being sponsored in the process. (That's where you come in).
As avid carnivorous beings (see the big bloke Josh in the photo below) we thought that, at the risk of being transformed into weedy, herb consuming hippies, we would go two weeks without meat.
You might think that this isn't a big deal - after all there's a whole crew of people who just eat salad all their lives. But you should know that I've made a specific point of making sure Josh's flat mates are sizzling steak and bacon right under his nose.
Come hit us up anytime for a yarn/to wind us up. I'm Duncan (0278457775) and Josh Proctor is our team leader and he's a bit of a champ but has average chat.
Team Lime Green is made up of 11 student leaders from UC; Josh, Timothy, Sam, Dinesh, Bridget, Hannah, Sophie, Jamie, Elizabeth, Duncan and Tasmania.
Team Lime Green is one of 11 teams from the Emerging Leaders Program who are all going Two Weeks Without from 27th Feburary - 13th March. We are all raising money for three awesome local charities and all going without different things!
Day 11 9 March 2015
Last night members of Team Lime Green meet at Latimer square to help serve food to the homeless, an event that happens every Sunday organised by the 'Help for the Homeless', our chosen charity. This was a moving experience as we served about 50 homeless people of all ages and various backgrounds! Most importantly we meet the people that this money is going to help and I can tell you that every penny donated is going to a great cause. Please keep donating!
