Auckland
I have lived with epilepsy for most of my life starting when I was just 7 years old. It has been very difficult at times but I have been lucky enough to have the great support from both friends and family to help with the daily challenges of dealing with epilepsy. These things include memory and learning difficulties, mental health challenges and not being eligible for a driving license. All of these challenges require a huge amount of patience and support from family, friends and even colleagues. I am fortunately lucky enough to have a great deal of support but for some people that support just isn’t available to them. With about 50,000 epileptics nationwide effecting all ages, epilepsy is the most common serious brain disorders in not just NZ but world wide. Unfortunately almost 2,000 new diagnoses happen every year with that number increasing year after year. With more and more people living with epilepsy every year you may not know it but are likely to know a friend of family member who is living with the challenges of it. So for all those donating to Epilepsy New Zealand I think I speak for all of epileptics and there family’s, thank you we really appreciate every dollar.
Epilepsy New Zealand is a national charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for New Zealanders living with epilepsy. It provides support, information, and educational services to people with epilepsy and their family’s.
