Rainbow Place have cared for children I've taught and are truely an amazing support for families going through the hardest fight of all.

Waikato

As a teacher I have taught kids from all walks of life. It is truly an unbelievable profession and a privilege to help grow future generations. Part of this process means I get to do life with kids from different cultures and upbringings, but I also get to do life with children who have experienced parts of life that I have not. Some have achieved more than what I could have: others have fought battles that I could never imagine going through. It is a tough thing to think about, that some of the children I've taught, have experienced or in some cases are experiencing pain and hurt from illnesses and diseases that no child should have to suffer from. It changes not just a child's life forever, but also a families life.

In Hamilton we are so fortunate to have a charity like Rainbow Place who provide support for children, young people and their families as they experience change, loss and grief around the serious illness and/or death of a loved one.

It's actually New Zealand's only dedicated Hospice for Children and the care and specialised support they provide is remarkable. But to provide this compassionate care, requires money. Bluntly put. And Waikato Hospice (which includes Rainbow Place) have a shortfall of 4.5 million every year after DHB funding. So it's through sponsors, fundraisers, and events like this that allow them to continue offering this amazing service to our local community.

So, I'm doing a fight. It's not something I'm good at, in fact I've never been in a fight in my life. It's going to be uncomfortable, I'll be right in the deep end, but it's 100% a great reason to fundraise for those going through the toughest fight of all. To date, I'm currently 4 weeks out from the Hamilton City Fight Night and the next few weeks are going to be put through some gruelling, sweat producing, training sessions. But I'm ready!

On the night, I'll be wearing a white top. As a way to acknowledge your donation, the kids in my class will write your name on the singlet I'll be wearing. You can't all jump in the ring to fight with me, so this will be a way to show everyone your support for Rainbow Place.

If you donate between:

[$1-$50] I'll write your name somewhere on my top (the name you donate with)

[$51-$100] I'll enlarge your name and you can customize it

[$101-$250] I'll write your favourite saying or one liner (leave it in the comments)

[$250-$500] I'll draw a basic symbol or logo with your name underneath

[$500+] I'll draw a larger symbol or logo, and add a few colours to help it stand out

Thank you in advance for supporting a truly worthy cause!
