Fighting to save lives, Clash for Construction

My story isn't too dissimilar to many other NZ men..

I am diagnosed with clinical depression & have been dealing with my own demons most of my adult life. Only in the past year or so have I found the courage to open up with those close to me about my struggles. Some of the people I speak with confidently have been through the same or are diagnosed as bipolar. My journey has been a long one involving multiple medications which I am still on, suicide watch, counselling, therapy, many breakdowns, self-isolation, spiritual healings, alcoholism, sobriety. I have lost friends, an ex, teammates and teammates children all to suicide, some as young as 13 years old.

Training and exercise has become my happy place & my tool to raise awareness and support for others who are struggling.

Somedays I still struggle to leave my house or bed for days on end but thankfully those close to me know the signs and support me by turning up and sometimes forcing me to leave the house.

For this reason I am fundraising for Mates in Construction & will be training for the Hirepool Clash for Construction 2023 fight night.
