I'm a 65-year-old with MND/ALS and aim to solo-paddle a waka ama up to 7 kilometres on beautiful Lake Taupo Sunday morning

Hi. I’m Tony, a 65-year-old with Motor Neuron Disease of the ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) ‘variety’. I have deteriorated to the stage of needing my 'walker' to walk/get about (I can do say 5 steps unassisted in familiar surroundings), and aim to solo-paddle* a waka ama up to 7 kilometres on beautiful Lake Taupo on Sunday morning, 10th of March.
UPDATE, UPDATE; I made it - 3 hand blisters, and only ONE dunk in the Great Lake. Lucky me had wonderfully warm folk alongside (on waka amas and boats), which made the whole exercise enjoyable. AND has hopefully helped a few more people become a fraction more aware of their neurons.
Can you please sponsor me/neurological research (all money raised goes directly to the Neurological Foundation) on a (NOW) "Well done basis - but we realize you did it to gain funds for neurological research, and here's a few extra $ to help".
MND is just one of many, many neurological afflictions that affect as many as 1 in 3 Kiwis – Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, migraine, epilepsy, etc. You will know someone, perhaps many, neurologically affected – sponsor me to support them.
*My waka ama is supplied by the Taupo Waka Ama Club. Their Chairperson (Robyn) has been brilliantly-supportive, and I will be lucky enough to have 2 separate waka amas accompanying me - Alice being one paddler, the other JB. Thank you, you two, heaps!
**A loud shout also for my great mates Locky and Scrote, trailing me in an outboard motorboat. -

If you have contributed $ please DO NOT give anymore. After doing it, I edited my Givealittle page, telling you (I thought) 'job done'. But today GAL have mailed to say I need to do a formal 'Update' (here'tis), if I want all of the 42 fantastic donors to know how it went. THANK YOU ALL, HEAPS.
Hey Grub, thank you very much - we share a much-loved Mum, but in this case she has burbled too much. Still, a very worthwhile cause. You, 'Ree', take care.
Hi Rochelle. I feel a wee burst of anger every time I hear of someone being afflicted or passing away due to some disease/ill-health....but then settle down and realize the sooner we learn everything about our bodies, the less such things will happen. Sorry, I'm rambling. But every $ towards research helps. Thanks heaps Rochelle.
Hey, Taupo Pak'n Save, not sure exactly who you are, but regardless, you are helping/doing good; thank you.
Chris. Your contribution - and thoughts - are very welcome, and appreciated. Take care.
Mr Trump, thank you (mate)!
