I want to raise money for underprivileged children and mental health awareness because as a nation we are family.
Auckland
Hi. My name is Bryce and I'm 20 years old.
I was raised in a lower income family but had a normal childhood like everyone else... so I thought. The thought of having shoes or dinner was never really something I cared about. Being young and naive it didn't matter because I had it from the start, but as I grew and was given experiences like Outward Bound and a good education and even spanning to getting a full time job I started to look at the bigger things in life.
To me the bigger things in life consisted of wealth but as I looked further it didn't feel right because everyone wants money and so we all compete for it. Please bear with me as I digress I will get back to the point soon but with the realisation that money technically is everything but nothing at the same time I thought what can I do that will fill me with fulfillment?
Help others.
I am going to Africa to cross the Sahara alone to think of how I can grow as a person and see the world around me but during the planning phase of my trip to Africa I thought I could do something for New Zealand before I go on my pilgrimage of repentance for being able to do something for so long and not actually doing anything. I want to raise money for shoes and food for the children that are underprivileged and raise mental health awareness to prevent so much loss in our country.
I want to walk from the ruined heart of Christchurch, the Cathedral to the Auckland Sky Tower bare foot in solidarity for the children that don't have the luxury for shoes. Our next generation is precious not only to continue our race as humans, but to grow our nation stronger with an emotional and rational touch.
I am also doing this walk so I can raise awareness that mental illness is one of the most important things to us as an individual and a nation and that we can control it ourselves and with no shame, with the help of others because sometimes all you need is a little hand in the right direction being direct or indirect by inspiring others to rise up and run forward into life.
I'm a normal citizen wanting to raise money for kiwis in need.
