Help Hastings RDA reach more children & change more lives!

At Hastings Riding for the Disabled (Hastings RDA), we improve the health and wellbeing of young people in the Hawkes Bay region, who have a disability or have special needs.

Our therapeutic riding ponies are the backbone of our charity and are the main way we support youth with disabilities. The warmth and movement of the horse is transmitted through the rider’s body, gradually making the rider more relaxed, improving muscle tone, balance, posture, and coordination. Our RDA sessions enhance physical, psychological and social abilities as well as providing recreational and educational opportunities.

We need our therapeutic riding ponies to stay in peak condition so that they can easily work with disabled youth.

To do this we must keep them well fed, maintain an excellent hoof care routine, and have them seen regularly by our dedicated horse physiotherapist. There are also pesky vet bills that arise from time to time. This can be very expensive when you have 9 horses!
