Kia ora koutou,
My name is James. I am 15 years old. I am currently completing the Silver Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and planning ahead to complete my Gold Award. My goal is to be the youngest student at my school to achieve the Gold Award.
I am trying to fundraise 50% of the cost to do the Spirit of Adventure in December. I will pay the other 50% myself with money I save from a part-time job.
My values center on communication, collaboration, and innovation. The outdoors provide me with an excellent setting to explore these values as well as provide me with opportunities to lead, to problem solve, explore my comfort zone and build positive relationships. I also like giving back to the community by volunteering as a librarian and planting trees on Motuihe Island/Te Motu-a-Ihenga in the Hauraki Gulf
Over the Christmas holidays, I completed a 10-day intrepid journey down the Whanganui River with my family. Please check out my blog at; https://sites.google.com/kings.net.nz/whanganuirivertrip2018/home?authuser=0. I noticed a lot of didymo and plan to do a 15-day expedition in the near future from Taumaranui to Whanganui to learn more about this noxious weed.
My next challenge is to circumnavigate Waiheke Island in a double sea kayak with my dad in the July school holidays. I am keen to write another blog.
Thank you for supporting my love for the outdoors.
Nga mihi nui,
James Kiesanowski
