Ordinary kiwis join worlds best to raise money for "I Am Hope" at DCG Masters in Nanango Queensland June 21st 2025.
Canterbury
Team Gump Ultra are off to Nanango to run the Dead Cow Gully Masters, a backyard ultra, on 21st June.
The goal is to run further than before and beyond what we thought was humanly possible whilst raising money for NZ Youth in Need.
Crew chief Barry, nutritionist and spiritual advisor JD and runner Chad will compete with some of the words best in this epic last man standing event.
Ravensdown Shipping Services have helped us get there, now please support us by donating to "I Am Hope" through this page.
We have many generous supporters who have helped us raise over $20K for Waitaha Special Needs School in 2023 and over $7.5K for Gumboot Friday in 2024. With your help let's make a difference in 2025.
Many of you will know that Sam Harvey is NZ's best Backyard Ultra runner and supreme ultra athlete. Sam's shooting for the World Record along with other big names like Harvey Lewis USA, Phil Gore Australia, Belgian Merijn Geerts and lets not forget Oriol from Spain!
Lots of other brilliant kiwis will be there, so let's go !
David Patterson will be live streaming the event on Backyard Ultra Podcast / youtube to keep keen followers up to date.

We saw so many other great moments:
- Jane McAlpine, NZ Women's Record of 53 loops.
- Holly Ranson, Aust Womens Record of 61 loops
- NZ's Simon McLean ran like never before completing 90 & qualifying for Individual World Champs at "Bigs".
- Michael Harvey (Sams dad) running 4 loops with Sam
- Paul Maxwell of Dunedin NZ overcoming achilles issues early to fight on to 50.
- Josh Hastie of CHCH NZ running on sore knee saw how it would go through 12, no worse so kept going to 37.
- Jonathan Ash of Wollongong hit his first 100. Super nice fellow along with crew chief and wife Caroline. They sat & chatted with us Thurs night at Nanango RSL with Sam Harvey.
- Running alongside legends of the sport such as Harvey Lewis USA current world champ (93 loops), Jennifer Russo USA (new PB 74), Oriol Antoli Spain (new PB, 102), Merjin Gerts Belgium (4 x 100+, 102), Michitaro Mizuno Japan (new PB 94)
One of the 87 runners/crew - new BYU world record for No. runners 24 hrs/100 miles/160km
