I am shaving my hair off in less than 4 days and I need your help to fundraise for the awareness of CANCER here in New Zealand.

Bay of Plenty

Hi, my name is Kyla and I am a 14 year old student at Trident High School here in Whakatane, Bay of Plenty.

I am taking a huge step by shaving my hair off in less than 4 days!! (It's happening this Friday, 22 March, two days before my birthday).

I have given this a lot of thought and I think someone else could benefit more by having my hair made into a wig.

I know being a teenager is sometimes a scary thing and we probably get our confidence from the way we look but doing this will help me to build even more confidence as I will now be forced to use my personality to connect with people :-)

We have lost two family members to Cancer and this is very personal to me and that it the whole reason why I want to help raise the awareness of Cancer.

This is just my small way in helping, so please support me in this.

Just some facts about blood cancer in New Zealand:

* Every day 6 children and adults in New Zealand are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood condition?

* There are an estimated 21,000 people living with blood cancer or a related condition in New Zealand.

* Blood cancers combined (leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma) are the fifth most common form of cancer in New Zealand

* The cause of blood cancers is unknown and these diseases can strike anyone, of any age, at any time, without warning.

A diagnosis can change a person’s life overnight and has a huge impact on their family, friends and their income.
