Emily is 32, living with terminal breast cancer. She would love to keep living so her two young daughters can remember their mum.
Marlborough
Emily is 32 years old with incurable breast cancer. She was diagnosed when she was 30 and started on chemotherapy when her youngest daughter was just 4 weeks old. On diagnosis it had spread to her pelvis and to since then, her brain. Her full story can be found at https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/a-life-worth-living.
To raise funds for Emily, Dan Moore (captain of successful adventure racing team, Team Yealands) is attempting a speed record up Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku and back (highest peak in the Inland Kaikoura Ranges).
Date: 2 March 2019 (postponement date 3 March 2019)
Thanks to generous support from Trackme, you can follow Dan's progress in realtime online at http://teamyealands.trackme.life.
The total distance is 48km and expected time is 8-9 hours.
Emily and her immediate and extended family are close friends of our family. She and her family work so hard to live the best life they can in the circumstances, and deserve every bit of help to do so.
Successful mission! 2 March 2019
The weather was perfect for Dan's trek up and down Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku. Unfortunately it seems the tracker stopped working part-way up, but he reached the summit at about 9am (after a 5am start) and back to the carpark just after 1pm - 8 hours and 3 minutes! All went very smoothly. There was some snow around, but it was patchy enough so it could be avoided
A few friends were there in support at various points of the journey, and Dan is really happy with how it all went.
Thank you all so much for your support for Emily.
