Fundraising for Gumboot Friday
New Zealand's young people are facing a crisis with regards to depression and receiving the counselling they so desperately require. I've experienced it, as has my family and it needs to get better. Gumboot Friday charity passes on 100% of the funds donated directly to counselors for the young people who have been struggling alone and offers hope. With absolutely no funding received from Ministry Of Health, every cent raised makes a genuine difference to the mental well being of these vulnerable kids.
Mountain Biking for me represents the natural highs and lows of life. We struggle up hill for a bit and enjoy the adrenaline filled descents for fun. Sometimes though, the uphills seem endless, and overwhelm the enjoyment we once enjoyed ripping down the trails. It becomes difficult and sometimes impossible to even attempt to get out as the "uphills" are just too long and we lose sight of what we loved in the mean time.
On Friday November 5, 2021 I will attempt a 24 hour mountain bike ride of my local trails here at Tunnel Gully in Upper Hutt. The goal is to complete 10 "laps" of all 9 trails in the park, travelling 200km and climbing a total of 7500 meters in elevation.
Any donation, big or small, makes a huge difference and helps us achieve this fundraising goal and I personally invite anyone to come support me in this ride. Look to Facebook for event details.
Closing date extension 7 November 2021
Hi team, due to a couple of media outlets being in touch to offer some further exposure we've decided to extend the closing date of the Givealittle page so we get the most out of the extra reach.
To all of you who have donated, especially during the ride, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm absolutely speechless. My support crew excitedly gave me updates on the fundraising at each pit-stop and it really boosted my efforts. Will post a full update soon.
