Lauren & Rick's Taupō Challenge 2017

Lauren and Rick are fundraising for Foster Hope by getting in their lycra and peddling around Lake Taupō

What is Foster Hope?

- Foster Hope is an organisation that provides backpacks to children in care so that they can have the necessities to ease their way into their placement

- There are over 5,000 children in foster care in NZ. Many of these foster children arrive at their new placements with nothing but the clothes on their backs, or with their belongings in a black rubbish bag

- Foster Hope provide backpacks and a carry all bag containing toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo etc) and some items that will show them they are loved (books, soft toys etc) to be given to children when they are removed from their homes

What is the Taupō Challenge?

- The Taupō Challenge is an annual event were people cycle around the lake in a variety of events

What's Lauren Doing?

- Lauren is hopping on a road bike for the first time and completing the main event, 1 lap of the Lake, a 160km circuit

What's Rick Doing?

- Rick has already done 1 lap before, and so Lauren challenged him to complete the endurance event, 2 laps of the lake, or 320km

When are we doing this?

- Training is already underway with both of us having to cycle at least 4 days a week

- The Taupō Challenge is on the 25th November 2017
