We are undertaking a challenge, fundraising for the New Zealand Cancer Society and the Otago Medical Research Foundation.
Otago
On the 22 of October 2016, Nick and I will be aiming to cycle the Rail Trail (152km) within 7 hours and 30 minutes (weather dependant) as a part of the ‘McGlashan Challenge’. This is an initiative run by our College that encourages students to plan and carry out tough challenges, while fundraising in the name of a charity of choice.
We decided to fundraise for the New Zealand Cancer Society and the Otago Medical Research Foundation. We have chosen the Otago Medical Research Foundation as one of our Charities as they provide scholarships to the people on the forefront of medical research. Both of us have also lost a relative to Cancer, thus we also wanted to raise money for the Cancer Society.
We are doing this challenge as it is an initiative offered by our College and is something we have wanted to do for a few years. Now is our opportunity to raise money for our chosen charities.
Rail Trail Completed 22 October 2016
A cool morning but perfect conditions during the ride set us up to complete the 151 km trail in 6 hrs 35 min. Nearly an hour faster than we had planned to achieve. We left Clyde at 9:08 and arrived in Middlemarch at 3:43. This page will remain open till the end of November, so any continuing support will be much appreciated.
