I'm running from Mt Maunganui to Raglan to help Agora get a new roof. Your generosity will help Agora continue to 'love its neighbours'.
Waikato
Hi, my name is Campbell and I love to run and run long. I also love life, my family, Jesus and my local community. For me, my community has a lot to do with a place called Agora, in the heart of Frankton Village.
So, put it all together and you get one crazy guy running 160 kms from Mount Maunganui to Raglan (East to West coast of NZ) to help put a new roof on Agora. Starting before sunrise on Friday, 31st August and hoping to be in the seaside village of Raglan by Sunday, 2nd September. Event details are at this Facebook Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/695336894150129/
Here's Agora's story and why we need a new roof:
13B Kent Street, home for Agora, was originally a old clothing factory that City Bible Church purchased 13 years ago and then renovated to create a very special place in which Agora Community Trust has established a space Where Community Begins. It's become a practical way to 'love our neighbours' through hospitality.
Over the past 9 years, Agora (13B Kent Street, Hamilton, New Zealand) has provided over 60 local charities and community groups with a raised profile, space for fundraising and appreciation events and a financial donation through its Charity of the Month '50 cents a cup' programme of over $128,000 (currently on average $1500-$1800 a month).
During this time a longterm partnership has been established with Red Cross Refugee Services through which Agora provides funds, space, employment and training, and a free English language night class, for many former refugees.
Agora has long needed a new roof, gutters and spouting, as these are well past their used by date and are now beginning to cause further damage to this place many call 'home'. So it's time for Agora's second major renovation. Time for Project Watertight.
Your contribution will help make Agora watertight with a new roof and a complete repaint.
I am a Trustee for both City Bible Church and Agora Community Trust. But I also love running ... so I'm running from Mt Maunganui to Raglan to help Agora get a new roof.
