My first ultra marathon for the charity Kidscan

$6,010 of $5,000 goal
Given by 71 generous donors in 6 weeks

I’m running my first ever ultra marathon to raise money for Kidscan. A New Zealand organisation that helps kiwi kids living in hardship.

Auckland

At the beginning of this year at the age of 55, I set myself the biggest physical challenge I have ever undertaken. To run the gruelling “Kepler Challenge “ a 60 kilometre off road ultra marathon. This mountain run climbs nearly 1500 meters over the Kepler Ranges in Te Anau.

My longest run in the last 30 years before taking on this challenge was around 10 km. I have always said the words “Fun and Run “ should never be used in the same sentence.

To ensure my entry into this event I paid $1000 to a local charity . Although I’m doing this for myself I was lucky enough to meet a bunch of people this year who run another charity called Kidscan. This organisation provides kiwi kids who are living in hardship with food, clothing and health items at school, so they can get into the classroom in a position to learn.

Any money I earn from this page will be donated to this great cause.

I’ve put 100,s of hours into training this year and all I will get if I finish this 60 km is the personal satisfaction of completing this run.

It would be awesome if you all could help me raise some money to help Kidscan do what they do !

I sold a building recently that has Kidscan as a tenant . After seeing what this great organisation does I would like to help raise money to help pay some of their rent.

4 More Sleeps  27 November 2018

Well only 4 more sleeps till the event. A great big thank you to all the people that have supported me and donated to KidsCan.

The body is holding together with bits of duct tape and i am nursing a sore ankle from last weeks half marathon through the Karangahape Gorge.

Me and my two running buddies Mike Ryan and Troy Sexton are also getting excited as time closes in .

Watch this space for further details.
