Participating in The 12ks of Christmas for Project Island Song - 2025
Russell, Northland
From 1st to 12th December I’ll be taking on the “12ks of Christmas” challenge in support of Project Island Song!
For 12 days straight I’ll be running 12km twice a day - at midday and midnight - all around the Bay of Islands. That’s 288km in total and every step is to raise awareness and funds for the amazing work being done to restore and protect our local islands.
Project Island Song is a community-led conservation partnership that’s been working since 2009 to bring life back to these islands - removing pests, reintroducing eight vulnerable native species, planting over 43,000 native trees, and helping thousands of tamariki connect with our incredible environment. There are 144 islands in the Bay of Islands and, thanks to Project Island Song, seven of them are now pest-free sanctuaries where native birds and wildlife are thriving again.
This place means a lot to me and I want to do my part to help protect it for future generations. By sponsoring me in the 12ks of Christmas you’ll be helping continue this vital work - funding pest control, native planting, species reintroductions and so much more.
