Participating in The 12ks of Christmas for Project Island Song - 2025
Manawatu / Whanganui
From 1st to 12th December, I will be completing the 12ks of Christmas challenge for Project Island Song.
New Zealand's pristine beauty has inspired my poetry and writing my entire life, so now it's time for me to give back and help preserve our environment for future generations to enjoy 🩷
I’ll be taking on the Traditional 12ks of Christmas, where I’ll be building up a km of running or walking for 12 days straight – on Day One I’ll complete 1km, Day Two I’ll complete 2km, and so on until the final day when I’ll be running/walking 12km, for a total of 78km across the 12 days.
Project Island Song is a pest-free wildlife sanctuary covering seven islands in the eastern Bay of Islands. The community conservation partnership works to restore and protect the natural eco-systems and heritage of the Bay of Islands so that it is here for everyone, forever.
Day 8 Update 8 December 2025
Hello all 🩷 thank you for following my walking journey and the three generous supporters who have donated in the last few days. I've been very busy at work so updates have been slow, but rest assured I've been chasing those kilometres!
Days 4 and 5 were spent running up and down the Mt Stewart Reserve in Taihape, enjoying the beautiful weather and views up on the summit while catching my breath (pictured)
Days 6-7 were a whirlwind and unfortunately I didn't save my tracking info onto my Fit app, but I definitely walked more than six kilometers per day! Finished up Saturday night with a midnight stroll to view the super moon 🌙
Support our awesome fundraisers walking and running the 12ks of Christmas to raise money for Project Island Song!
Thank you Nicole 🩷✨
