Project Island Song’s 12ks of Christmas - Team Wētā Walkers/Ruru Runners

From 1st to 12th December, Abby, Alex & Laura have teamed up and will be completing the 12ks of Christmas challenge for Project Island Song!

We’ll be taking on the Traditional 12ks of Christmas, where we’ll be building up a km of running and/or walking for 12 days straight – on Day One we’ll complete 1km each, Day Two we’ll complete 2km each, and so on until the final day when we’ll be running/walking 12km each, for a total of 78km across the 12 days! Between the three of us we'll complete 234km across the 12 days.

Our team name is a fun take on some of our native species, we'll be run-walking the event and hope to see lots of you out and about on our routes.

Project Island Song is a pest-free wildlife sanctuary covering seven islands in the eastern Bay of Islands. The community conservation partnership works to restore and protect the natural eco-systems and heritage of the Bay of Islands so that it is here for everyone, forever.

Since 2009, the project has eliminated pests from the islands, reintroduced 8 vulnerable native species, planted over 43,000 native trees, and engaged thousands of tamariki with our unique natural environment.
