Quadcycling around the 160km Taupo Cycle Challenge - on a Wellington Free Ambulance style 4 person bike
Wellington
We have embarked on a little journey, to take a quadcycle (4 person bike) around Lake Taupo in the 160km BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on the 26th November 2022, in recognition of the 95th Anniversary of the Wellington Free Ambulance Service.
These bikes are usually reserved for the Wellington waterfront, or the wine trails of the Wairarapa, however we will turn one (as best we can) into an ambulance, and race (ride) it around Lake Taupo. Sounds silly, however the idea was, the team at Wellington Free Ambulance, travel a fair way in pressure situations, so we thought, let's do the same, and try and raise some money along the way (one of the co-captains is a mechanic for the service, so he sees what they do daily). We are covering all costs, so all money raised here will go directly to WFA.
We aim to create fundraising "mini" targets with some entertaining challenges.... such as riding for 30 minutes with possibly the worlds most annoying song or a relevant ambulance related song, another idea is riding 10km in speedos if another target is met (if you know anything about cycling, this won't be fun).
Target 1 - $1,000 - Song played on repeat for a 30 minute period - How to Save A Life by The Fray
Target 2 - $5,000 - Ride 10km in speedos
Target 3 - $10,000 - suggestions?
We will update this page regularly

Signage on! 19 November 2022
We are almost ready to go….. Huge thanks to the team at Creative Sign Co in Paraparaumu for gifting us the bike signage. The bike looks swish. Only a week to go now, and the bike basically ready! Looking forward to lining up at the start line next Saturday…..
